2012 GTHL Top Prospects Game
January 12, 2012 2:56 PM

Forse Hockey was proud to be at the 2012 GTHL/Scotiabank Top Prospects Game. It was a packed house with scouts, families and friends filling the Herb Carnegie Community Center to take part in this event.

Selected players were divided into two teams either playing for former Toronto Maple Leaf Captain Wendel Clark or Former Toronto Maple Leaf and Sportsnet co-host Nick Kypreos. Below are the Team Rosters.

Team Kypreos: (G) Mathew Robson & (G) Cameron Hackett - (D) Steve Desrocher, (D) Roland McKeown, (D) Gregory Ditomaso, (D) Santino Centorame, (D) Robert Byckowski, (D) Sal Filice - (F) Joseph Berton, (F) Matthew McLeod, (F) Sam Bennett, (F) Evan Smith, (F) Chad Burrows, (F) Jaden Lindo, (F) Nicholas Pastorious, (F) Jake Evans, (F) David Miller, (F) Cale Allen, (F) Robbie Fabbri, (F) Michael Cramarossa - Not Available Jordan Addesi, Brendan Lemieux.

Team Clark: (G) Liam Herbst & (G) Hayden Lavigne - (D) Gregory Allen, (D) Kyle Jenkins, (D) Bennett Morrison, (D) Dylan Diperna, (D) Jonathan Duchesne, (D) Anton Bura - (F) Calvin Gomes, (F) Connor Graham, (F) Stuart IIekys, (F) Jeremiah Addison, (F) Kris Bennett, (F) Damian Bourne, (F) Dante Salituro, (F) Joshua Ho-Sang, (F) Connor McDavid, (F) Brett Hargrave, (F) Michael Dal Colle, (F) Marc Stevens - Not Available Daniel Desousa.

The Mississauga Rebels topped the league with 12 players represented from their team. The Toronto Marlboros came a close second with 10 representatives, the Vaughan Kings with 6 representatives, the Don Mills Flyers with 5 representatives, the North York Rangers with 4 representatives, the Toronto Nationals with 2 representatives and the Toronto Red Wings with 1.

The game itself started off fairly fast paced however, a lot of the play was sloppy and at times some players looked as if they were trying to make fancy moves and plays to impress the scouts instead of making the simple plays they needed to put the puck in the net. There were a lot of missed tape to tape passes and the execution of 2 on 1's could have been better as well, especially for team Kypreos, but  I am sure nerves had a part to play in that.

The final result was a 9-2 win for team Clark. The goal tending for team Clark was stellar especially in the first half where Liam Herbst recorded a shut out. All and all, even though it was a high scoring game, there wasn't any one or two players that jumped out for stellar play that was head and shoulders above any other player in the game. Dante Salituro did manage to record a hat trick however for team Clark which placed him in the best position to earn star of the game for team Clark.

At the end of the game, Don Cherry made an appearance to hand out the star of the game for each team which was a nice surprise. The 2 stars of the game were:

Team Kypreos: (F) Sam Bennett - Toronto Marlboros
Team Clark: (F) Dante Salituro - Don Mills Flyers

Congratulations to all the players and coaches who participated in the event. Thanks to Scotiabank for being the main sponsor as well.
